The personalised training and improved functionality programme offers different types of intervention:

1. Individualised assessment by expert professionals and design of a personalised training plan, suited to each person’s functional capacity, needs and expectations, in particular:

  • Evaluation of muscle balance and motor control.

  • Study on the level of autonomy in the conduct of daily life activities.

  • Analysis of functional mobility capacity, barriers and facilitators.

  • Personalised description of specific needs according to activity agenda.

  • Synchronised dynamic electromyographic and kinematic analysis.

2. Individualised 50-minute sessions with expert physiotherapists

After studying your needs and problems, our team of expert professionals will conduct a functional assessment and design an individualised programme with defined objectives, aimed at strengthening your abilities and compensating for the dysfunctional problems identified.   • Kinesiotherapy

  • Postural re-education and correction, and prevention of muscle imbalances.

  • Sensory attention re-education.

  • Deep sensitivity re-education.

  • Strengthening of neuromuscular control.

  • Flexibility, passive stretching and postural treatment.

  • Mechanical ventilation techniques and drainage of secretions.

  • Stimulation of circulation with lymphatic drainage.

  • Specific work with scar tissue.

  • Overall mobility training.

  • Treatment of muscle overload syndrome and involvement of soft tissue, through massage therapy, motor stimulation and postural guarding electrotherapy with ultrasound and infrared system.

  • Hydrotherapy and driven-gait orthosis in the swimming pool.

The physiotherapist will apply therapeutic techniques following an integrated holistic vision based on the most advanced rehabilitation models: Bobath, Vojta, PNF, Frenkel, Musculoskeletal system rebalance therapy, Perfetti, etc. Throughout the process they will follow the systematic working approach and overall guidance technique of the Personalised Neurorehabilitation Model developed by the Institut Guttmann, adapting the therapeutic plan to each patient’s personal characteristics.

3. Guided 1-hour sessions, with a maximum of three patients at a time (optional session, immediately before or after the individualised session).

According to functional assessment and your individualised programme, your therapist will propose that you perform a set of activities using modern training systems to improve resistance, strength and coordination of muscle groups and joint structures in order to achieve the goals set in your programme. 



4. Services in the home

If you cannot come to our hospital, we offer home care services to conduct personalised and intensive physiotherapy programmes that. Although these lack all the technologies available at our hospital, they are always carried out with the Institut Guttmann’s professional rigour and human quality, achieving excellent functional results and patient satisfaction.
